A Stormy Summer

Posted by Kiri , 12 July 2012 · 2,681 views

summer rainstorms
Thanks to an uncooperative jet stream we look set to have the wettest July on record on top of the wettest June this year. With weather like this its really hard to motivate yourself and get out with the camera, even though you know that interesting weather can make for interesting photographs.

This hapless bumblebee, caught out in one of the rainstorms just as I had been, was a good reminder to me that there is always something to photograph whatever the weather. I watched him over the course of about 20 minutes struggle to hang onto his branch with the weight of the water droplets gradually separate his wings and dry himself off. You would hardly believe the last photo is of the same bee.
